Balance and coordination in movement

These concepts often appear together but describe different demands during movement.

Balance

Balance relates to maintaining stability while standing or changing position. Difficulty changes with the surface, support, speed and movement requirements.

Coordination

Coordination concerns how body parts move in sequence and time. For example, stepping sideways and then reaching on cue differs from standing still.

Choose a manageable level

Start slowly on stable ground, with adult support for children. Siroby’s programmes are not professional motor-development assessments.
