Positioning a camera for movement

Framing, light and distance need to be checked together. No single distance works for every camera.

AT A GLANCE

  1. 01Head and feet in view
  2. 02Stable device
  3. 03Light from the front

Frame the movement area

Position the device so the app can see the body area required by the activity. Try a slow movement to see whether hands or feet leave the frame.

Avoid backlighting

Light from in front is generally easier to work with than a bright window behind you. Avoid shining a strong light into your eyes; adjust curtains or device placement first.

Keep the frame simple

One person in the recognition area makes troubleshooting clearer. If feedback is unstable, adjust one factor at a time instead of treating it as the person's fault.
