Prepare the measuring area
Use a flat floor and vertical wall, remove shoes and hair accessories that affect the measurement. Stand naturally upright without stretching upward.
Read and record
Place a flat object level on top of the head, mark carefully and measure in centimetres. If readings differ substantially, check posture and equipment before entering a value.
Understand the limits
Home measurements have error. If a reading is unusual or worrying, confirm it with suitable equipment and discuss it with a health professional rather than concluding from one measurement.
